We are pleased to announce that  Anthony Coles, Evan Kahn, and Eddie Whang have joined Potomac Law as Partners in our Intellectual Property, Patent, and Technology and IP Transactions Practices.  All three are based in New York, NY.



Mr. Coles is involved in all areas of intellectual property practice, concentrating on patent evaluations for patent pool licensing, patent infringement litigation, client counseling, and patent procurement. A registered attorney before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, he has worked on Patent Office post-grant proceedings (IPRs) in the areas of network security, mobile media, and consumer disposables. He has experience across many technical areas, including wireless communications, video compression, optical discs, mobile media, digital rights management, cryptography, computer software, networking, computer architecture, optics, semiconductors, consumer disposables, and medical products. 

Mr. Coles received his J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law.  Prior to joining Potomac Law, Mr. Coles was a Partner at Proskauer Rose LLP. 



Mr. Kahn’s practice concentrates on high technology patent issues pertaining to a variety of fields, including video, audio, consumer electronics, wireless communications, networking, semiconductors, computer architecture, optics, encryption, and software.  He has assisted multiple patent licensing administrators to form and run license programs for standard essential patents. He has helped his clients assert their patents in the United States and internationally and has appeared before the EC Directorate General for Competition and the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division in connection with patent pools. 

Mr. Kahn received his J.D. from University of Houston Law Center.  Prior to joining Potomac Law, Mr. Kahn was a Partner at Proskauer Rose LLP. 



Mr. Whang is experienced in various areas of intellectual property law, including patent evaluations for patent pool licensing, patent litigation, invalidity/non-infringement and freedom-to-operate opinions, intellectual property due diligence, and patent prosecution.  A registered attorney before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, he has experience across many technical areas, including optical disc technologies, video formatting and compression technologies, wireless communications, networking, computer software and architecture, and medical devices.

Mr. Whang received his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law.  Prior to joining Potomac Law, he was at Proskauer Rose LLP and Ropes & Gray LLP.
