Potomac Law is pleased to announce that Roberta Anderson Sutton, the firm’s Insurance Recovery and Risk Management Practice Leader, will be a featured speaker at RISKWORLD™, the RIMS 2024 annual conference and exhibition in San Diego, May 5-8.

Ms. Sutton will present on the topic Ransom, Regulation, Kinetics and Biometrics: Cutting-Edge Insurance Solutions for Today’s Risk Landscape on Tuesday, May 7.

The session will focus on the significant challenges that organizations of all types and sizes face in these unprecedented times for cyber security, privacy and data protection.

Topics will include:

  • How to equip yourself to tackle extortion and ransomware issues, including concerns over Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), social engineering and email spoofing, kinetic and physical impacts, and biometric security
  • The dramatically heightened regulatory scrutiny and the proliferation and expansion of data privacy and protection laws-EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA).
  • Keeping up to date on the cutting-edge insurance available and best practices for maximizing coverage
  • Deciphering the current legal and regulatory frameworks that address critical cyber risk issues
  • Adopting best practices for maximizing insurance recovery after a cyber security incident

Ms. Sutton will be joined by Jeffrey Parker, VP – HR & Risk Management, Lansing Building Products, and Chris Keegan, Cyber and Technology National Practice Leader, Brown & Brown.

In addition to aggressively and successfully pursuing her clients' insurance recoveries in disputed insurance claims settings, Ms. Sutton counsels clients proactively on complex insurance placement and risk management issues. She is delighted to have been selected to serve on the Law360 2022 Cybersecurity & Privacy Editorial Board and to have coauthored the cybersecurity guide for executives, Navigating the Digital Age: The Definitive Cybersecurity Guide For Directors and Officers.

Last year, Ms. Sutton presented a session at RISKWORLD™ in Atlanta on the topic, Your Ransom Risk Playbook: Attack Planning, Insurance and OFAC Compliance.
