PLG is pleased to welcome Jennifer Utter Heston as a partner in our Energy Practice in Lansing, Michigan.

Jennifer advises and advocates for competitive energy suppliers, independent power producers, large industrial energy users, and telecommunications providers in high-stakes regulatory and litigation matters. Her practice spans complex issues involving public utility regulation, market restructuring, contract disputes, and legislative policy, with particular depth before the Michigan Public Service Commission and utility rate, tariff, and rulemaking proceedings.

Jennifer's blend of legal acumen and policy insight was built over two decades of experience in private practice, government service, and utility regulatory advocacy. She represents clients in contested cases, administrative hearings, arbitration, and appellate proceedings. She regularly counsels businesses on compliance strategies and evolving regulatory landscapes in the energy and telecom sectors.

Prior to joining PLG, Jennifer was a partner at a prominent Michigan law firm, where she was a founding member of its Alternative Energy Practice Group and represented clients in energy and communications law matters. Her earlier public sector roles include serving as policy advisor to the Michigan Senate on technology, telecommunications, and energy, as well as working with the Michigan Public Service Commission and the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel. Jennifer is active in the Energy Bar Association and serves as Director and Past President of the Michigan 2-1-1 Board of Directors.
