We are pleased to welcome Barrie Hananel as a partner in our Corporate & Transactional Practice in Chicago.
Barrie brings more than 15 years of experience advising financial institutions, private equity sponsors, and high-growth companies on complex financings and corporate deals. Her work spans senior, mezzanine, and asset-based credit facilities, as well as M&A and general corporate matters. Clients appreciate her practical, business-minded approach and her ability to get deals done efficiently and strategically.
Barrie’s breadth of experience includes representing agents and arrangers in an $80 million credit facility for an outdoor-optics manufacturer, advising a minority investor in a Major League Baseball equity transaction, and documenting a $300 million facility for a private-equity-backed logistics company.
Barrie’s background includes over a decade at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP and in-house roles as General Counsel to both a family office and a sustainable consumer products company. She also advised an investment platform focused on early-stage food and beverage brands—experience that gives her a deep understanding of clients’ needs from the inside out.
She earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where she served as a Senior Editor of the Journal of Poverty Law and Policy, and her B.A. from the University of Michigan. Barrie remains active in her community through leadership roles with Lurie Children’s Hospital and the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab in Chicago.
