Christopher Barrett is a partner in our Education practice. He advises K-12 schools and educational institutions on the full spectrum of legal, operational, and governance matters affecting today's education environment. Drawing on extensive experience, he serves as trusted counsel to clients navigating complex employment, labor, governance, school funding, special education, and regulatory issues while helping school leaders make informed decisions that support their educational missions.
Chris represents virtually every type of K-12 educational institution, including charter schools, traditional public schools, vocational schools, regional high schools, and special services districts. He regularly counsels school administrators and boards on day-to-day operational matters, employment issues, labor relations, collective bargaining, student matters, and compliance with the evolving legal and regulatory framework governing educational institutions.
An experienced litigator, Chris has successfully represented schools in state and federal courts and before numerous administrative agencies. His practice includes defending clients in proceedings involving the United States Department of Education - Office for Civil Rights, the United States Department of Labor, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the National Labor Relations Board, the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Departments of Education, the New Jersey Office of Administrative Law, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, and other state and federal agencies. His experience enables him to guide clients through investigations, enforcement actions, administrative proceedings, and complex disputes with thorough and practical, results-oriented counsel.
In addition to his education law practice, Chris has experience advising elected and appointed government officials and public entities, including state port authorities, municipalities, police and fire departments, public universities, hospital systems, and religious organizations on labor and employment matters, collective bargaining, and civil litigation.

- Represented a religious institution on a pro bono basis in a civil action involving allegations of sexual abuse arising from alleged conduct dating back to the 1970s. Developed and pursued threshold legal defenses challenging the viability of the claims and successfully obtained dismissal of the action on behalf of the institution.
- Provided pro bono legal assistance to United States veterans seeking benefits before the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, including assisting veterans in navigating the federal benefits process and advocating on their behalf in connection with their claims.
