Ms. Stone is an accomplished lawyer with over two decades experience helping companies and other organizations navigate federal and state regulatory matters involving energy and environmental issues.  Ms. Stone advises clients across a range of industries on the changing legislative landscape presented by efforts to alleviate climate change, sustainability and resource scarcity issues.  She assists companies in assessing policy initiatives, evaluating legislation, commenting on regulations, and developing a strategy to shape and adapt to an evolving legal landscape.   Her clients range from startups to Fortune 500 companies, and include electric utilities, technology development companies, manufacturers, consumer product suppliers, retail sellers and entities throughout the supply chain.

Ms. Stone has an end-to-end practice advising companies on government-funded renewable energy and clean tech projects, from identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, and negotiating agreements, through project administration and closeout.  Her extensive experience and knowledge of the federal grant and contracting process helps her clients access the billions of dollars available every year through publicly funded grants, loan guarantees, tax credits and procurement contracts supporting the development of a clean energy economy.  Ms. Stone guides her clients through the extra layer of requirements inherent in doing business with the government, including enhanced accounting, sourcing, ethics, labor and prevailing wage requirements.  Her clients have successfully completed large and small public projects including publicly funded research and development projects, joint infrastructure development initiatives and sales of utility services to public entities.

Ms. Stone has extensive experience with the complex web of state and federal product regulation laws that shape the lifecycle of consumer and industrial products.  From manufacturing, import, distribution, sale, use and eventual disposal, today’s regulatory world imposes 360 degree scrutiny on the impact that manufactured products have on the environment.  Ms. Stone works with organizations of all sizes to develop practical and effective compliance strategies for laws on labeling, energy efficiency, waste, hazardous materials, water, safety and air emissions.

In addition to providing advice and counseling, Ms. Stone is skilled in designing and building effective compliance programs.  She has served as external in-house counsel for energy and environmental matters for multiple clients and is known for giving practical, effective and efficient advice.

Previously, Ms. Stone was with O’Melveny & Meyers LLP, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP and VLP Law Group LLP.   Ms. Stone earned her A.B. cum laude from Princeton University in 1994.  She received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1997 also cum laude.  She is licensed to practice law in Washington D.C., California and New York.
