Potomac Law Welcomes Katie Wood

We are pleased to announce that Katie Wood has joined the firm as Counsel.

Katie Wood is a Counsel in the firm’s Litigation and Antitrust and Competition Law practice groups.  She represents clients in a wide range of state and federal commercial litigation matters, including antitrust and trade regulation, unfair competition, Lanham Act, libel, interference, and copyright infringement matters.  She also represents clients in conduct and merger investigations before the United States Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission (“FTC”).  In addition, she counsels companies and trade associations on compliance with antitrust and competition laws, including the implementation of business and strategic plans, the design of training programs, and Hart-Scott-Rodino filings.

Ms. Wood’s diverse experience includes representing Western Refining through a merger trial and appeal in a FTC action to enjoin Western’s acquisition of Giant Industries.  She has defended clients in multiple industries, in every aspect of litigation, against Sherman Act, state antitrust, consumer action, and unfair business claims and class actions.  Ms. Wood has assisted clients in responding to government investigations, subpoenas, and civil investigative demands.  She has advised clients on pre-merger agency discussions, considerations, and issues.

Ms. Wood received her J.D. with honors in 2001 from the University of Chicago Law School where she served on the University of Chicago Law Review.  She received her B.A. magna cum laude from the University of Oregon Robert D. Clark Honors College in 1996 where she was Phi Beta Kappa.
