Potomac Law is pleased to announce that Catherine Guttman-McCabe and Wendy Fischman have joined the firm as Partners and Iris Wong and Emily Terrell have joined as Counsel in the firm’s Education and Employment Practice Groups.
Catherine Guttman-McCabe has spent her career advising educational institutions, with a particular focus on higher education. She provides advice and counseling related to federal and state education regulations, accreditation, distance education, governance, faculty tenure, employment, student discipline, Title IX, campus security, disabilities, privacy, and consumer protection. She also conducts internal investigations, compliance reviews and trainings, and represents clients before administrative agencies. Guttman-McCabe is a graduate of Harvard Law School, cum laude. Her previous experience includes serving as General Counsel at Strayer University, Associate General Counsel at Georgetown University, and eight years of private practice at Hogan & Hartson, LLP (now Hogan Lovells).
Wendy Fischman’s practice focuses on advising corporate, non-profit, and higher education employers on all aspects of the employment relationship. She has extensive experience developing, implementing, and monitoring internal employment policies and procedures and representing clients before federal and state agencies. Fischman is a graduate of the George Washington University Law School with high honors and previously worked as a senior associate at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson, P.A.
Iris Wong advises clients on U.S Department of Education, state educational agency, and accrediting agency requirements. In addition, she represents educational institutions in proceedings before regulatory bodies and investigations by governmental entities. Wong is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law and previously served as Associate General Counsel at Strayer University.
Emily Terrell represents clients across a broad range of industries in complex litigation matters in federal and state courts. Additionally, she has experience advising clients on a variety of strategic and risk management issues in areas including labor and employment, legal ethics, intellectual property and regulatory compliance issues. Terrell is a graduate of Loyola Law School, cum laude, and previously worked as an associate at Kirkland & Ellis, LLP.
