Potomac Law is pleased to announce that Partners Julia Anne Matheson and Michael Lennon have been listed in the World Intellectual Property Review’s (WIPR) Leader Directory for 2023.

WIPR Leaders is a one-stop guide to the leading IP practitioners in the world. The handbook lists over 2,500 lawyers across patent, trademark, and copyright practices. Following an extensive four-month nomination period, the research team vetted the nominated lawyers for suitability by exploring their work. This meant looking at practice history, industry expertise and notable cases, as well as any additional activities, such as writing and teaching responsibilities, which have allowed the lawyers to shape and influence other and future IP practitioners.

Lennon is a Partner in the firm’s Litigation, Patent, Intellectual Property, and Technology and IP Transactions Practices, focusing on complex litigation, licensing and business transactions relating to intellectual property rights. Over his decades of practicing law, Lennon has represented and acted as an advisor to numerous multinational technology companies in industries ranging from medical devices to wind power systems. In transactional matters, Lennon acts as both legal counsel and as a strategic advisor to his clients, and he has negotiated numerous agreements relating to the acquisition, licensing and monetization of intellectual property. He has appeared as trial counsel in more than 125 patent infringement, trade secret, licensing dispute and patent-antitrust lawsuits in the United States federal district courts, the U.S. International Trade Commission and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Matheson is a Partner in the firm’s Trademark Group and is consistently recognized as one of the country’s top trademark lawyers, a practical and business-oriented advisor, effective brand advocate, and strategist. In practice for more than 30 years, Matheson’s practice covers all areas of trademark, trade dress, product configuration, and unfair competition law including worldwide clearance, portfolio management, and enforcement, due diligence, false advertising, licensing, social media, and internet disputes. She has been lead counsel in well over 100 inter partes proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB), and has significant experience litigating in federal district courts. Matheson represents clients ranging from startups to Fortune 100 companies and multi-national organizations.
