Potomac Law is pleased to welcome Brent Lindon as Counsel in the firm’s Intellectual Property group in Colorado and Chris Volz as a Trademark Paralegal in Washington D.C.

Mr. Lindon’s practice focuses on strategic patent counseling and includes invention harvesting, preparing and prosecuting patent applications before US and non-US patent offices, patent infringement/non-infringement and invalidity investigations, and innovation consulting.

Mr. Lindon has represented companies at all stages of the patenting process and in technology areas spanning a wide range of high-tech products and applications including AI/machine learning, telecommunications, user interfaces, finance, electric and autonomous vehicles, power distribution systems, solid-state imagers, memory, computer and network security, audio and video distribution systems, smartphones, smart TVs, software, optics, medical devices, and display systems.

He began his legal career at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office where he examined patent applications in technology areas including video compression, video transport, and camera assisted devices. Earlier in his career, Mr. Lindon was an electronics engineer where he programmed data acquisition and analysis systems to automate testing of several jet engine and guidance components. Prior to joining Potomac Law, Mr. Lindon was a patent attorney working at LinkedIn and was responsible for conducting invention harvesting sessions to identify and review patentable concepts and present such concepts at patent committee meetings for patent protection. Mr. Lindon received his J.D. from the University of Denver – Sturm College of Law; his M.S. in Systems Engineering from Naval Postgraduate School; and a B.S. in both Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering from Montana State University – Bozeman.

Chris Volz is a Senior Trademark Paralegal in the firm’s Intellectual Property Group involved in all aspects of the firm’s domestic and international trademark practice. Ms. Volz has 30 years of extensive practical experience in the trademark field, specializing in conducting global knock-out searches and clearances, providing guidance on product marketing and brand strategy and preparing Madrid Protocol trademark applications. Ms. Volz regularly communicates with outside counsel and foreign associates on intellectual property matters related to trademarks and has worked directly in supporting start-up companies to Fortune 500 companies in managing their intellectual property portfolios.

She also prepares and files copyright applications with the United States Copyright Office, State trademark/service mark applications and renewals with the appropriate governmental entity and domestic and foreign patent applications with the United States Patent Office.

Prior to Potomac Law, Ms. Volz spent two decades at a boutique law firm as a trademark paralegal and more than five years at a leading regional law firm in the Midwest.
