Potomac Law is pleased to announce that Kenneth M. Fagin has been promoted to Partner of the firm.
Trained as an aerospace engineer, Mr. Fagin has nearly thirty years of experience as a patent attorney. He advocates tenaciously on behalf of his clients while prosecuting patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office; asserting his clients’ rights or defending his clients’ interests in litigation or similar proceedings; or counseling his clients through various transactional proceedings.
Mr. Fagin has a well-established record of success before the Patent and Trademark Office, having secured allowance of the vast majority of his clients’ applications without resort to the appeals process while minimizing the duration of prosecution. This is the result of a deep technical understanding of his clients’ technologies; a thorough understanding of the PTO rules; and an unwavering emphasis on clear, accurate, persuasive writing. He also has, in many instances, been asked to assume responsibility for and “turn around” applications that had been languishing elsewhere.
Mr. Fagin takes a collaborative approach in his practice, working as a team member and playing an integral role in meeting his clients’ IP needs. In this capacity, he works with all members of his clients’ organizations, ranging from the engineers and scientists who develop the clients’ intellectual property to upper-level management and in-house counsel who define the clients’ IP-related objectives.
Throughout his career, Mr. Fagin has handled prosecution and litigation matters involving an exceptionally diverse range of technologies, ranging from the simple to the complex. Broadly speaking, technologies he has worked with include automobile components, heavy machinery (earth-moving machinery, industrial machinery, food-processing machinery), gaming machines, medical devices, green technologies, electronic components, and many more.
