Sheetal Patel is a patent law specialist with several years of experience litigating chemical, biotech, and pharmaceutical patent cases as well as developing enforcement strategies including invalidity and infringement analyses, and due diligence. Ms. Patel’s litigation experience includes U.S. district court, International Trade Commission, and appellate litigation, with particular experience related to the Hatch-Waxman Act governing the approval of pharmaceutical drugs. Ms. Patel has broad experience in all aspects of litigation, including patent litigation strategy development, claim construction, managing complex fact discovery, working with expert and fact witnesses, conducting and defending fact and expert depositions, drafting pretrial and post-trial briefing, and trial preparation.
Ms. Patel also counsels a diverse mix of companies ranging from start-ups to large global corporations regarding intellectual property, strategic collaborations, agreements, commercialization, investments, and licensing. Prior to practicing law, Ms. Patel performed research and development at a global Fortune 100 company as well as a start-up biotechnology company.
Ms. Patel devotes a portion of her time to pro bono matters. She has successfully represented a number of parents seeking custody in civil cases in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
